He has carried the Spartans to multiple wins this season and frankly, I don’t know where this team would be without him.

Walker’s play has been excellent all season, especially recently. During Tuesday night’s 59-56 loss to Minnesota, Walker passed Kalin Lucas for the most consecutive double-digit scoring games in Michigan State history.

This accomplishment is impressive on its own, but it’s even more impressive when you factor in his minor injury.

Tyson Walker groin injury

Walker has been dealing with a groin injury for a few weeks now, and last night, he aggravated it again. He was visibly limping on the court and even had to go back to the locker room. Thankfully, Walker was able to return to the game and appears to be fine going forward.

Tyson addressed this injury after the game with the media, sharing that he “slipped in the second half but felt OK after returning.”

Tyson Walker said he slipped in the second half but felt OK after returning

— Kyle Austin (@kylebaustin) February 7, 2024

Knowing the warrior Walker is, I wasn’t surprised to see him return so fast to the game. Also, based on this comment alone, I don’t have a fear of him missing any time going forward.

He was only out for about three minutes, but MSU really felt his absence in that short amount of time.

MSU can’t afford to lose Walker

It’s easy for any team to say that they can’t afford to lose their best player. This MSU team, however, showed on Tuesday night why they can’t lose Walker. The Spartans were in control of this game and had a nine point lead when he left the game. In those three short minutes, Minnesota started hitting their shots and MSU couldn’t find an answer offensively.

Michigan State basketball lost all of their momentum and couldn’t recapture it when Walker returned. But it’s worth asking, would MSU have lost their lead in the first place if he never got hurt?

There is no way to know for sure, but I think the end of the game would have gone very differently if he never got hurt. I think MSU likely would’ve cruised to a comfortable win, and we’d all be feeling a lot better about ourselves right now.

Regardless of Tuesday’s outcome, it’s obvious that this team can’t lose Walker. His health is probably the most important thing to this team right now, and thankfully it sounds like he’s going to be OK going forward.

[187
190,189,504,202
post-13767","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-basketball","tag-michigan-state-basketball","tag-michigan-state-spartans","tag-news","tag-tyson-walker
["GET
