One big question that\u2019s already been answered is that <a href=\"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/michigan-state-basketball-xavier-booker-coming-back-next-season\/\">Xavier Booker will be back next season<\/a>, but there are two other Spartans to keep an eye on: AJ Hoggard and Mady Sissoko.<\/p>\n<p>Both Hoggard and Sissoko just finished their senior seasons, but they do have the option to return for one more season by using their extra COVID year. Both Spartans were asked about this after their <a href=\"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/michigan-state-basketball-3-takeaways-from-north-carolina-loss\/\">loss to North Carolina<\/a>, and here\u2019s what they had to say.<\/p>\n<h3>AJ Hoggard and Mady Sissoko&#8217;s potential for a return<\/h3>\n<p>When talking about whether they will return for a fifth season next year, both <a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/a-j---hoggard\/13628\">AJ<\/a> and Mady said they still haven\u2019t made a decision yet.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Both A.J. Hoggard and Mady Sissoko say they\u2019re undecided on their fifth year of eligibility<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Chris Solari (@chrissolari) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chrissolari\/status\/1771697056140148951?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 24, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Both players did participate in the senior night festivities this year, but that doesn\u2019t mean they won\u2019t come back. Malik Hall did his senior night last season and came back, so this isn\u2019t an indication of what Hoggard or Sissoko could do.<\/p>\n<h3>Pros and cons<\/h3>\n<p>There are pros and cons to each returning, with the biggest pro being the experience they\u2019d bring back. Experience can mean a lot in college basketball, and next year they\u2019d have more experience than most in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Just because you have experience though doesn\u2019t mean you\u2019ll automatically be a great player, and that\u2019s the biggest con for them returning. Hoggard has his moments of greatness, but he has too many games where he\u2019s nonexistent. Take the <a href=\"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/michigan-state-basketball-3-takeaways-from-north-carolina-loss\/\">loss against UNC<\/a>, for example, he only scored three points in the biggest game of the season. That\u2019s unacceptable.<\/p>\n<p>Then you have Mady Sissoko who has already shown the best that he can be. He can be an elite rebounder, but he is not someone you can rely on for some offense. So his return in my opinion likely wouldn\u2019t help the team much.<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s for them, and maybe even Tom Izzo to decide. Both players also have the option to transfer, which wouldn\u2019t surprise me either.
