After watching Tom Izzo try to navigate the portal on the basketball side, it&#8217;s nice to see the Spartans linked to some top football transfers.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Michigan State was <a href=\"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/auburn-transfer-wr-javarrius-johnson-sets-michigan-state-football-visit\/\">linked to a couple of receivers<\/a> as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/michigan-state-football-has-reportedly-reached-out-to-transfer-rb-peny-boone\/\">running back Peny Boone<\/a>. They do return Nathan Carter who figures to be the workhorse, but are Jalen Berger or Jaren Mangham trustworthy enough as RB2s?<\/p>\n<p>With the rumored interest in Boone on Thursday and now this scheduled visit for Lynch-Adams on April 22, it seems like Smith wants to upgrade the backup running back and this would be a massive get. Lynch-Adams is coming off his best season as a collegiate running back, accounting for 1,157 yards and 12 touchdowns last season on 4.9 yards per carry. He also had 20 catches for 118 yards.<\/p>\n<p>Lynch-Adams is entering his sixth season of college football so he&#8217;d be one of the most experienced backs in the Big Ten if he chose the Spartans.<\/p>\n<p>Getting this visit shows just how serious Smith is about upgrading the backfield in East Lansing. Michigan State football was built on the ground-and-pound mentality and he&#8217;s trying to bring it back.
