{"id":18243,"date":"2024-06-04T12:58:01","date_gmt":"2024-06-04T16:58:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/?p=18243"},"modified":"2024-06-04T12:58:01","modified_gmt":"2024-06-04T16:58:01","slug":"michigan-state-football-could-be-on-commit-watch-with-ohio-based-wr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/?p=18243","title":{"rendered":"Michigan State football could be on commit watch with Ohio-based WR"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Michigan State football could be on commit watch in the next few days with a three-star receiver from Ohio, Braylon Collier.<\/h2>\n<p>Official visit season got started in East Lansing this past weekend and we could start to see the fruits of <a href=\"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/michigan-state-football-makes-final-4-for-a-top-midwest-recruit\/\">Michigan State football<\/a> recruiting staff\u2019s labor as early as this week.<\/p>\n<p>Three-star wide receiver Braylon Collier was one of the players on campus over the weekend and he recently dropped a tweet that indicates that he could make a commitment as soon as this Friday.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">June 7th \ud83d\udc40\u23f3<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Braylon Collier \ud83d\udc51 (@brayloncollier1) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brayloncollier1\/status\/1797744509163573536?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 3, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Collier is a 6-foot-1 wide out from Ohio, a state that the new staff under head coach Jonathan Smith has made a priority, and he was offered back in May. Recruiting overlooked players in the Ohio area was a successful strategy by the Mark Dantonio regime and a neglected area by Mel Tucker and his staff. It\u2019s good to see Michigan State football keep an eye on players who are not being as aggressively pursued by Ohio State.<\/p>\n<p>After his official visit, Collier made comments regarding the \u2018real family feel\u2019 of the program, a comment we see a lot from players who make visits. Although not always genuine (see Simeon Barrow for example), this has been a common statement made by many recruits who have been on campus during the Smith era.<\/p>\n<p>As of now, MSU has locked down commitments from a quarterback, running back, and a tight end in the class of 2025. Collier would be the first receiver of the class and would give the staff a great foundation for finishing up high school recruiting for 2025. Receivers coach Courtney Hawkins will be battling both Iowa and Iowa State for Collier. Both schools could offer immediate playing time but potentially with below-average quarterback play.<\/p>\n<p>All eyes were on Iowa\u2019s offense last year as former offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz was required to average 25 points per game last season in order to renew his contract. He failed and has since joined the Maryland program.
