Matt Coghlin had a long five-year career with Michigan State football<\/a> as the full-time field goal kicker. He got his career off on a high note, making 33-of-41 field goals in his first two years in East Lansing, good for about an 80 percent conversion rate. He was also a perfect 63-for-63 on extra points.<\/p>\n His numbers dipped a bit in 2019 as he made 22-of-32 field goals for just under 69 percent, but he did hit all 31 of his extra point tries.<\/p>\n In 2020, he got back on track, hitting 9-of-12 field goals in a COVID-shortened season. and he was 13-for-13 on extra points before going 12-for-19 on field goal tries in his final season in 2021 and 41-of-41 on extra points. Coghlin finished his Spartan career with 76 made field goals on 104 attempts (73.1 percent) and he was a perfect 148-of-148 on extra points.<\/p>\n While he received a ton of criticism for his inconsistency during the 2019 and 2021 seasons, he still managed to be dependable, for the most part.
