{"id":18440,"date":"2024-07-01T12:56:47","date_gmt":"2024-07-01T16:56:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/?p=18440"},"modified":"2024-07-01T12:56:47","modified_gmt":"2024-07-01T16:56:47","slug":"tyson-walker-signs-with-phoenix-suns-for-nba-summer-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/?p=18440","title":{"rendered":"Tyson Walker signs with Phoenix Suns for NBA Summer League"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Tyson Walker didn&#8217;t hear his name called in the 2024 NBA Draft but he&#8217;s signing with the Phoenix Suns&#8217; Summer League team.<\/h2>\n<p>After an impressive three-year career with Michigan State hoops, <a href=\"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/michigan-state-basketball-tyson-walker-all-big-ten-second-team\/\">Tyson Walker<\/a> is headed off to the pro ranks.<\/p>\n<p>No, Walker didn&#8217;t hear his name called during the 2024 NBA Draft and if he had a little more size to his frame, there&#8217;s probably a zero percent chance he goes undrafted. It was impressive to watch his growth from an eight-points-per-game scorer in 2021-22 to the 18.4 points he averaged this past season.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, no NBA team took a chance on him during the draft and he had to wait until after the process to find a team to sign with.<\/p>\n<p>He did just that on Sunday, inking a deal with the Phoenix Suns on their Summer League team.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Tyson Walker has agreed to join the Phoenix Suns for NBA Summer League, per <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JonChep?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@JonChep<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yJcmW3tViF\">pic.twitter.com\/yJcmW3tViF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Spartans Hoops (@HoopsSpartans) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HoopsSpartans\/status\/1807485329533968816?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 30, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>This is a great move by Walker and it helps that Mat Ishbia is the owner of the Suns because there&#8217;s a chance that he could sign a two-way deal when the Summer League concludes with Phoenix. I&#8217;m not saying he&#8217;s a lock to sign on with an NBA team, but this feels like as good of a situation as any. Plus. I truly think Walker is good enough to play in the league. He might not be a star, but not many teams would say no to a sharpshooting and shot-creating guard who can defend at a high level and who plays bigger than his frame.
