Michigan State&#8217;s recruiting strategy for the first year under the new regime has been clear: recruit in-state players who are attainable, undervalued, and create a strong foundation heading into the 2026 cycle where the staff can take more chances on higher-ranked players.<\/p>\n<p>Williams is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound hybrid athlete from Orchard Lake St Mary\u2019s and ranks as a three-star according to 247Sports&#8217; composite. If he commits to the good guys tonight, he\u2019d be the third St. Mary&#8217;s kid of the 2025 class, joining teammates Jayden Savoury and Charles White.<\/p>\n<p>On paper, Williams projects as a ball-carrier in East Lansing and has shared the staff\u2019s vision of using him in a hybrid type role between running back and wide receiver like how the San Fransisco 49ers utilize Deebo Samuel.<\/p>\n<p>A smart kid, being pursued also by Harvard, Rice, and Pitt, Williams chose to delay his original commitment date of July 2 as wrestles with his decision.\u00a0 He\u2019s clearly putting a lot of thought into where he wants to play at the next level.<\/p>\n<p>As things stand right now, it appears to be a battle between Michigan State and former defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi over at Pitt. The Panthers won the last recruiting battle between the two schools, landing four-star safety Elijah Dotson from Belleville.
