{"id":20439,"date":"2024-12-28T18:22:55","date_gmt":"2024-12-28T23:22:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/?p=20439"},"modified":"2024-12-28T18:22:55","modified_gmt":"2024-12-28T23:22:55","slug":"simeon-barrow-involved-in-sideline-scuffle-at-pop-tarts-bowl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/?p=20439","title":{"rendered":"Former MSU star Simeon Barrow involved in sideline scuffle at Pop-Tarts Bowl (Video)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of my favorite things to do throughout the season, especially when Michigan State isn&#8217;t playing well, is to follow former Spartans to see how they&#8217;re doing at their new schools. One of the most prominent former players who was highly sought after in the transfer portal last offseason was none other than Simeon Barrow.<\/p>\n<p>The former star defensive lineman drew a ton of interest in the transfer portal and decided to play for Mario Cristobal down at Miami where he was likely rewarded with a heck of an NIL deal.<\/p>\n<p>Barrow&#8217;s lone season with Miami wasn&#8217;t all that bad. He finished the regular season with 28 total tackles and a career-high 5.5 sacks. He didn&#8217;t quite have the tackle numbers he did at Michigan State, but he got into the backfield often and wreaked havoc on opposing quarterbacks.<\/p>\n<p>While he nearly helped lead Miami to the College Football Playoff, the Hurricanes still went 10-2 and made the Pop-Tarts Bowl as a top 20 team in the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Defense was optional in this year&#8217;s Pop-Tarts Bowl between Miami and Iowa State and that seemed to lead to some frustrations on the Hurricanes&#8217; sideline between Barrow and a teammate.<\/p>\n<p>The former Spartan overheard his defensive line-mate Marquise Lightfoot saying something that seemed to set him off on the sideline so he took exception, got in the freshman&#8217;s face, and shoved him.
