While Michigan State football is dealing with a current quarterback competition going into the fall, the staff is always looking to the future.

According to 247Sports, MSU has extended scholarship offers to 16 different quarterback prospects in the 2024 class, but most of them at this point have already committed to a school. The newest player to receive a heralded offer from the Green and White is Miles O’Neill.

O’Neill is a 6-foot-5, 220-pound prospect from Hun School in Princeton, N.J. At the time of this writing, O’Neill has racked up offers from MSU, Maryland, Virginia, Boston College, Connecticut, Fordham, Temple, and some Ivy League schools. O’Neill is also unranked according to all major recruiting sites (at this time).

Off of that information alone, this offer can be a bit of a head-scratcher.

That is until you take a look at his highlight tape.

Roll the tape

Check out the arm on MSU’s newest QB offer, 2024 NJ product Miles O’Neill.

Before Jay Johnson, Jake Reiling, and the staff found & offered him today, his best offers were Temple, UConn, and several Ivy League schools.

He’s 6-foot-5, 220lb | @MilesONeill_12 pic.twitter.com/UIBpOFwYXS

— SpartanTailgate.com (@SpartanTailgate) May 8, 2023

In the first clip, O’Neill takes a big drop in the pocket before his protection eventually collapses. He does a good job of staying calm and stepping up and keeping his eyes downfield. He didn’t panic. O’Neill throws an absolute bomb a little over 40 yards into the endzone. While being drilled by not one, but two defenders. Touchdown.

In the next clip, O’Neill shows off his cannon again. He has all day to throw and eventually makes the about 50-yard throw to the back corner of the endzone. Perfectly placed into his receiver’s hands. The most impressive part about this throw? The power behind the ball. O’Neill put enough zip on the pass that it traveled nearly 50 yards in about three seconds. Any slower and the defender probably has a chance to make a play.

The kid has an arm.
