{"id":6961,"date":"2023-09-14T17:59:58","date_gmt":"2023-09-14T21:59:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/?p=6961"},"modified":"2023-09-14T17:59:58","modified_gmt":"2023-09-14T21:59:58","slug":"michigan-state-football-washington-most-anticipated-game-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/?p=6961","title":{"rendered":"Washington vs. Michigan State football is most anticipated game in years"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Saturday&#8217;s Michigan State football matchup against a top-10 Washington team will be the most anticipated home game in years.<\/h2>\n<p>It&#8217;s been quite the week for <a href=\"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/welcomed-change-coming-to-michigan-state-football-game-day-schedule\/\">Michigan State football<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Last Saturday, fans were celebrating a blowout win over Richmond to improve to 2-0, and then when a lot of them woke up on Sunday, the Spartans were without a head coach. Mel Tucker was suspended by the athletic department for his involvement in a harassment case.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re obviously not going to keep talking about that because there&#8217;s so much to look forward to this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the Washington game on Saturday might just be the most anticipated home game for Michigan State since Michigan came to town in 2021. There&#8217;s actually that much to look forward to.<\/p>\n<p>This tweet from former linebacker Chris Frey Jr. inspired this article.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BS aside. There is a lot to look forward to this weekend in EL! Rose bowl team celebration, Hall of Fame inductions, Coach D is BACK, black uniforms??? Sellout crowd, alcohol sales in the stadium, beginning of the Coach Barnett era, program defining game. It&#8217;s hard not to get excited.<\/p>\n<p>Frey touches on a lot of things I&#8217;m excited about. And this is why everyone should be pumped for this weekend&#8217;s game in East Lansing and the atmosphere should be electric:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>MSU has a legit shot at a top-10 upset.<\/li>\n<li>The defense has been playing much better.<\/li>\n<li>Noah Kim and Nathan Carter lead the Big Ten in passing and rushing, respectively.<\/li>\n<li>We have a kicker now.<\/li>\n<li>Mark Dantonio is back on the sidelines.<\/li>\n<li>Harlon Barnett is finally getting his opportunity.<\/li>\n<li>Probably the first look at the black uniforms.<\/li>\n<li>Alcohol is being sold at Spartan Stadium for the first time.<\/li>\n<li>Night game.<\/li>\n<li>Rose Bowl team celebration (hopefully we hear &#8216;Type of Way&#8217; by Rich Homie Quan blasted on the speakers).<\/li>\n<li>A jam-packed Spartan Stadium.<\/li>\n<li>Spartan Walk will return to normal with the starting point at Kellogg (great for fans).<\/li>\n<li>Resounding support from fans and alumni.<\/li>\n<li>A chance to finally get the best of Michael Penix Jr.<\/li>\n<li>Revenge game for MSU.<\/li>\n<li>A chance to prove everyone wrong (chip on the shoulder is back, baby).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are so many reasons to look forward to this game and honestly, I think I&#8217;m more excited about this weekend now than I was before this whole Tucker mess.
