{"id":9858,"date":"2023-12-12T15:04:00","date_gmt":"2023-12-12T20:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/?p=9858"},"modified":"2023-12-12T15:04:01","modified_gmt":"2023-12-12T20:04:01","slug":"michigan-state-football-lands-commitment-from-3-star-rb-makhi-frazier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/?p=9858","title":{"rendered":"Michigan State football lands commitment from 3-star RB Makhi Frazier"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<h2>Michigan State football picked up its first commitment of the Jonathan Smith era in three-star running back Makhi Frazier.<\/h2>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jonathan Smith and Co. picked up their first commitment with <a href=\"https:\/\/spartanshadows.com\/michigan-state-football-trending-with-6-recruits-after-big-weekend\/\">Michigan State football<\/a> early on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\r\n<p>Makhi Frazier, a three-star prospect according to the 247Sports composite rankings, announced his commitment to Michigan State via Twitter. Coming out of McKinney, Texas, Frazier will be heading north to play in East Lansing.<\/p>\r\n<p>Frazier stands 5-foot-11, 215 pounds, and is explosive with the ball in his hands. On tape, he\u2019s shown an ability to find holes in the offensive line. When there aren\u2019t any holes, Frazier has enough speed to get to the edge to run around defenders. Due to the high level of competition down in Texas, he only recorded the fourth-most carries on his team. Totaling 39 carries for 177 yards and four touchdowns, according to The Dallas Morning News.<\/p>\r\n<p>Perhaps one of Frazier\u2019s most admirable traits is his versatility. Not only did he show great potential at running back, he put together a more impressive season at linebacker. In his film he proves that he could be a sure tackler in the box. His fast, downhill playing style highlights his aggressive mindset while on the field. If running back doesn\u2019t work out for Frazier while at MSU, there could always be a defensive role as a backup plan. While it isn\u2019t likely he\u2019d move due to his lack of height, there is always a chance he could play a hybrid LB\/S type of role.<\/p>\r\n<p>The running back position has a strong recent history at MSU with the likes of Le\u2019Veon Bell, Jeremy Langford, and Kenneth Walker. Could Makhi Frazier be the next star ball carrier at MSU? Only time will tell, but he definitely has the potential. Jonathan Smith\u2019s offenses are a lot better when there are talented backs to stabilize the ground game, so hopefully Frazier can do just that.<\/p>\r\n<p>The Spartans beat out a number of schools for Makhi, including Arkansas, Missouri, and Minnesota.
