Max Christie earning rave reviews following Game 3 performance
Lakers fans love them some Max Christie.
Lakers Twitter exploded with excitement during garbage time of Game 3 after Max Christie pieced together a nice showing.
Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals between the Lakers and Warriors wasn’t close. At all. The game was over early in the second half and that meant one thing: Max Christie garbage time minutes.
With the Lakers up by nearly 40 points, Darvin Ham subbed Christie into the game with about six minutes left, and the former Spartan didn’t disappoint. He finished with six points on 3-for-3 shooting, including an impressive dunk, two rebounds, and two assists.
Lakers Twitter actually lost its collective mind when Christie entered the game and played well.
Some of these takes are awesome.

As you can see, Lakers fans lost their minds in the final six minutes of the Game 3 blowout on Saturday night. Christie was not only labeled as “him” by a number of fans (Graham Couch, avert your eyes), but he and Shaq Harrison were compared to prime Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen as well as prime Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal. Oh, and he was called a “nice” piece for next year.
Many fans believe he’s going to have an Austin Reaves-like sophomore jump. In case you haven’t noticed, Reaves has been one of the most improved players in the NBA this season.
Christie has grown quite a bit this season and it feels like he’s going to be a regular part of the rotation in 2023-24. He’s played 28 total playoff minutes thus far, shooting 5-for-8 from the floor with six rebounds, three assists, and a block with zero turnovers. Christie has been a nice bright spot.
In the regular season, he averaged 3.1 points and 1.8 rebounds on 42 percent shooting.
Max Christie has plenty of room for improvement, but fans are excited about his trajectory, especially after an impressive Game 3 performance.
