Michigan State’s Aidan Chiles isn’t lacking for confidence, stating he must work to prove he’s the nation’s best quarterback.
The most important trait for a college football quarterback to have outside of accuracy, decision-making, and a strong arm has to be confidence. And fortunately for Michigan State, Aidan Chiles has all of those.
Outside of having a rocket for an arm, impressive accuracy, plus decision-making, and elite leadership ability, Chiles happens to have plenty of confidence that spilled over after practice on Thursday to the media.
According to Owen Oszust, Chiles believes that he needs to prove he’s the best quarterback in the country.
This really isn’t that controversial of a take because what quarterback in college football isn’t going to say something like this about himself? There isn’t a starting quarterback in the Power Four that wouldn’t claim that he’s at least one of the best in his conference because he feels forced to say it, but this feels slightly different. Some quarterbacks just fake the confidence, but you can tell Chiles actually believes it. You can tell that he thinks he’s the best quarterback not just in the Big Ten, but in college football. And it makes me believe it, too.
Chiles does have a lot to prove this season after being 247Sports’ No. 1 quarterback transfer, but he has some solid weapons around him that should help him become the best version of himself.
And this confidence is contagious.
If Chiles believes that can prove he’s the best quarterback in the country, his team is going to believe that and they’re going to feed off him. His receivers are going to gain confidence that he’ll put the ball where it needs to be and his line is going to protect him like he’s precious cargo.
Is Aidan Chiles the best quarterback in the country? That remains to be seen, but I love that Michigan State finally has a quarterback who believes that he can be just that.
