Tom Izzo’s statement
Tom Izzo released this statement regarding this news.
“Jeremy underwent surgery this morning and is resting comfortably. While there is much we still don’t know, my focus is supporting Jeremy on his road to recovery.”
Again, this is excellent news that his injuries are not life-threatening. It also sounds like the surgery went well which is spectacular. Tom Izzo said it best that our focus should only be on supporting Jeremy and his family as he recovers.
Jeremy Fears’ season
Jeremy is off to a solid start in his freshman season. He is averaging 3.5 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. He is also shooting an efficient 50 percent from the field as well. Jeremy arguably had his best game in Michigan State’s last game against Stony Brook. Fears only scored one point, but he had a career-high 10 assists.
After an incident like this, basketball doesn’t matter. I won’t speculate on how this impacts his season or career. I also won’t guess at a potential return date for him either. None of that matters during a scary time like this. All he and his family need right now is support and some privacy from all of Spartan Nation.
I wish nothing but the best for Jeremy and his family as they recover from this scary situation.
