Another day, another insane Coen Carr video surfaces. The Michigan State basketball sophomore is just a highlight machine.
Year one of the Coen Carr era of Michigan State basketball is in the books and year two should be even more electric.
While we saw plenty of rim-rattling dunks from the athletic freak of a forward from Georgia, he is still developing as an all-around player. And yet he’s still posting highlight-reel videos on a daily basis.
The one that surfaced on Friday didn’t even involve a basketball. That’s how electric this dude is.
Fast forward to the 11-second mark of this short 15-second video to see just how high Carr gets up on the vertical measurement pole.
Are you as dumbfounded by this vertical leap as I am? In case you’re wondering, these vertical measurement poles can be adjusted to about 12 feet tall and that looks to be the hight of this test. He is darn near touching the top notch on the pole.
Just look at how high he is off the ground.
His head is at the rim. No, this is not a photoshopped picture, his head is actually at, or above, the rim.
For a 6-foot-5 forward to get up like this is insane. Carr has to have one of the top verticals in college basketball and he would probably have one of the best in the NBA, too. When he does decide to declare for the NBA draft, scouts are going to be drooling over his measurables and testing numbers. He can jump out of the gym so just imagine how valuable he’s going to be as a player if he can just add a jump shot.
We all thought we saw the best Michigan State basketball athlete when Jason Richardson was ripping down the rims and then Shannon Brown came along. Then there was Maurice Ager and Durrell Summers. And then we had Branden Dawson and Adreian Payne. After that, it was Miles Bridges. Now, we have to be looking at the best athlete to play for the Spartans in the Tom Izzo era, right?
Carr is an absolute freak.
