Michigan State football: 4-star OT target announces top 3, commitment date

One of the top Michigan State football targets in the 2024 class has released his top three and a commitment date.

One of the top offensive tackles in the country is down to three schools. Four-star Nathan Roy, a top Michigan State football target, posted his top three on Tuesday afternoon and released his commitment date.

The Spartans made the cut.

Roy also listed Minnesota and UCLA in his final three with his commitment date being June 20. That comes four days after his final official visit to Minnesota.

That alone tells me that the Gophers probably have the best chance.

There are no crystal ball predictions for Roy on 247Sports, but if you take a look at the On3 Prediction Machine, Michigan State leads the way at 29 percent with Minnesota second at 19 percent and UCLA at 16 percent. Iowa, Iowa State, and Wisconsin were also in the running before he trimmed his list to three.

Chris Kapilovic has been one of the best recruiters on the staff, however, and he seems to have made a big impression on Roy. He just landed his best offensive line class since coming to Michigan State and he has two guys committed in 2024 already — AJ Dennis and Logan Bennett.

The addition of Roy would be massive.

Roy is a four-star prospect, according to the composite, listed as the No. 187 overall recruit and 16th-best offensive tackle. On3 even has the Wisconsin native as high as No. 46 nationally in their rankings and 247Sports is the only service to not have him rated as a four-star.

Michigan State will be getting an official visit from him on June 9 and that’s going to be a huge weekend. We’ll see if Kapilovic and Mel Tucker can seal the deal.

Roy is the kind of offensive lineman you can build your unit around in a few years. He’s going to be really good at the next level.
