We should all be excited.

Just days after it was announced that Michigan State football was targeting Kent State wide receiver transfer Chrishon McCray, the Spartans closed the deal on him.

On Monday, the All-MAC second-teamer announced he would be committing to Michigan State.

McCray picked the Spartans over a handful of other offers after entering the portal and after his best season with Kent State. He had 40 catches for 705 yards and nine touchdowns this season. He was a massive big-play threat as Justin Thind of 247Sports stated that four of his touchdown catches were from at least 55 yards out.

That type of big-play ability makes this offense that much more dynamic, especially after it was rumored that Nick Marsh would be back. He will also be playing alongside new transfer wideout Omari Kelly from Middle Tennessee.

Fans are excited about this addition, but so are the players. One key player, in particular, can’t wait to get on the field with his new target from Kent State as Aidan Chiles voiced his excitement on Instagram.

If QB1 is this excited, all fans should be, too. He now has a trio of Marsh, McCray, and Kelly to throw to. Marsh was one of the best freshmen in the nation, McCray was an All-MAC second-teamer, and Kelly was an All-C-USA first-teamer this past season. Two all-conference wideouts and another who will be an All-Big Ten receiver soon enough along with the 2023 touchdown catch leader at tight end to throw to? Chiles has a reason to be excited. Get this man an offensive line and he’ll be cooking.

The offense is coming together quite nicely, but there needs to be a portal running back addition as well as another 1-2 pieces added along the offensive line. It feels like Jonathan Smith is making both a priority.

I don’t know about you, but I share the same sentiment as Chiles. The last All-MAC wide receiver transfer at MSU ended up playing on Sundays.
