The latest 247Sports football recruit rankings came out earlier today, and some of Michigan State football’s verbal commits saw a rise in their ranking. Spartans commit and four-star offensive lineman Collin Campbell jumped into the top 200 players in the class of 2026.

Campbell committed to State back on June 12. The Spartans fended off other Power Four programs like Washington, Utah, and Texas A&M for his commitment after the Gilbert, AZ native visited East Lansing on May 30.

Standing at 6-foot-7 with a massive frame of 280 pounds, Campbell represents a prolific profile of what offensive line coach Jim Michalczik wants in the trenches.  Along with Eli Bickel, Quinn Buckley and Tristan Comer, Campbell rounds out the lineman core for the Spartans.

Campbell’s bump in the latest rankings boost him up to No. 197 nationally, 21st at his position, and currently second in his home state of Arizona.  With a couple of of his classmates decommitting recently to pursue other opportunities, Campbell has stayed true to his word, and even reaffirmed his commitment to the Spartans in multiple social media posts and interviews.

The greatest jump in Campbell’s recruitment evaluation came from Rivals, where he rose from 188th nationally to 62nd overall in his class.  That leap makes him the highest-rated Spartans’ commit in the 2026 recruiting cycle.

Campbell’s rise amongst other recruits continues to reaffirm Michigan State football’s impressive ability to identify talent early in recruiting cycles, and push to get undervalued players committed early in their own recruitments.

Greg Biggins, a National Recruiting Analyst for 247Sports, had this to say on Campbell.

“True tackle prospect, something lacking the last few years in the region, and has a lot of physical tools that you look for in a young lineman. Looks all of 6-6, 270 pounds with plenty of length. A plus athlete who can really get off the ball and has the kind of nastiness you have to have to excel in the trenches. A finisher who loves to bury his man into the ground and has the athleticism to get out on sweeps and pulls. No issues getting to the second level as a run blocker and shows the athleticism and lateral mobility to slide and mirror as a pass protector.”

Future updates for Campbell will be covered here on Spartans Shadows.  But for now, the Spartans should celebrate a rare recent victory in the recruiting department.
