Michigan State football revealed which jersey combination it will wear for the season opener against Western Michigan.

Ahead of the game tomorrow, Michigan State football released its first uniform combination of the year.

In a nod to Stripe the Stadium, Michigan State went with white helmets, green jerseys and white pants.

I am a fan of this look as you have the white helmets which is a newer look and one that was introduced against Western years ago with the more classic look of the green jerseys and white pants. This is a good mix of new versus classic as we have seen Jonathan Smith be much more classic appearances than the prior head coach at Michigan State.

Not only is this more of a classic appearance, I love the nod to Stripe the Stadium. Not only is Stripe the Stadium cool to see in person and on TV, now we have the team participating in it as well. It truly feels like Michigan State is getting back to their roots of nothing too flashy and it starts with this combination on Friday night.

For the history of the combination, this is a combination that we have not seen under Smith and I am glad to see it being worn on Friday.
