The 2024 season was a forgettable one for most Michigan State football players.
The Spartans fell short of their own expectations, going 5-7 on the season with a complete meltdown in the final month of the season to go from “likely headed to a bowl” to a blowout loss to Rutgers in the finale to miss the postseason.
Injuries piled up for Michigan State throughout the season and the trenches took some major hits. What was expected to be one of the most improved position groups of the team ended up being one of the most disappointed. The offensive line was one of the worst units in the Big Ten and Aidan Chiles was constantly running for his life. On top of that, the run game was nowhere to be found despite having two more-than-capable backs.
One of the toughest injuries to deal with along the line was Kristian Phillips. He was off to a solid start to his 2024 campaign before going down with a season-ending injury, but he has made a vow to return with a vengeance.
Phillips posted a tweet on X vowing for a “revenge tour” this upcoming season with the caption “run it back”.

Phillips had an encouraging start to the 2024 season before going down with a lower body injury and he spent the rest of the year resting up and getting ready for an important offseason. This tweet above shows that he can’t wait to get back to work and prove people wrong.
It also shows that he has a belief in his quarterback, Aidan Chiles.
Phillips (AKA “Big Dooley”) has been one of the most outspoken Spartans this offseason, calling out fans who believe that it’s “unrealistic” to believe Michigan State has success with next season’s winnable schedule.
It’s good to see returning starters showcasing elite leadership with a clear fire lit under them.
