Michigan State football has made the top 10 list for a talented four-star safety in the 2025 class, Keon Young.
Michigan State football is hard at work recruiting the 2025 class now and Jonathan Smith seems to be prioritizing a wide range of recruits. Smith is recruiting guys all throughout the country as well as kids from three-star status all the way up to five-stars.
On Thursday, the Spartans got some good news from a very talented 2025 recruit as he put the Spartans in his top 10.
Four-star safety Keon Young
Keon Young is a four star safety from Lakeland, Fla. Young is one of the top recruits in the country, and that is seen on the recruiting sites rankings. According to 247Sports, he is the No. 278 player in the class and the No. 21 player at his position.
Young was a South Florida commit before backing away from that commitment recently. South Florida is still one of his top options, but he has opened the door for other schools to get in the mix and Michigan State has done just that.
Recruiting competition
Young’s top 10 schools include MSU, Auburn, Missouri, Texas A&M, South Florida, Kentucky, Florida, Oregon, Tennessee, and West Virginia. One school in particular stands out the most, and that’s the Florida Gators.
Florida has one crystal ball prediction on 247Sports from last month to land Young. On3 also favors the Gators to win his recruitment, giving them a 97.4% chance to do so. But according to a recent interview with Keon, his recruitment is still wide open.
In the interview with On3, Keon said “I communicate with coaches from each school at least once a week. Some hit me up two times a week and one or two reach out three to four times. I have relationships with coaches and I can see myself playing at any of these schools.”
Young has visited a few of his top 10 schools already including Florida, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Auburn, and South Florida. He also has one visit set for this summer which is a return trip to South Florida. However, Michigan State will get its chance in person as Keon said he plans to “take official visits to all 10 schools on my list.”
So the Spartans will have their chance to win this recruitment, and they have plenty of time to do so. Young doesn’t plan on committing until closer to December, so that gives Smith plenty of time to work his magic. No visit has been scheduled to East Lansing yet, but once that happens we will get a better idea as to where Michigan State stands in this recruitment.
