Jonathan Smith and Michigan State football have made the top 12 for an important four-star legacy recruit in the 2025 class.
We are in the middle of the most exciting time of the year for basketball, but that doesn’t mean the good news has to stop with the Michigan State football program. Recruiting is in full swing for the 2025 class, and the Spartans are making a lot of progress so far.
However, a recruit that many Spartan fans have had their eyes on for a while just included MSU in his top 12.
Four-star offensive lineman Kaden Strayhorn
Kaden Strayhorn is an interior offensive lineman from Bradenton, Fla. He is a top recruit in the country as the 247Sports composite ranking has him as a four-star in the class. According to those rankings, Strayhorn is the No. 385 player in the class. He also is the No. 21 interior offensive lineman.
Strayhorn’s recruitment is going to be difficult based solely on the quality of other programs in his top 12. Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and USC are the other Big Ten schools that made the cut, and Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Miami, Missouri, and Texas are also included.
The Spartans may have the upper hand in this recruitment, however. Many of you probably recognize Kaden’s last name. His father, Jason Strayhorn, is a former Michigan State football player and was even a captain during his playing career. He is still around the program today.
There is no indication of how much this plays in Kaden’s recruitment. But you have to think this only helps the Spartans’ chances and gives them an upper hand. The Spartans are also one of the few “warm” teams on his recruiting profile.
This recruitment is far from over, but Michigan State has to love its chances. Hopefully, Jonathan Smith can use his connection to MSU and win this recruitment against some elite programs.
