Michigan State football is pushing hard for one of the best quarterbacks in the 2025 recruiting class, Ryan Montgomery.

Michigan State football has its eyes set on a talented quarterback in the 2025 class. Ryan Montgomery, from Findlay, Ohio, is one of the best quarterbacks in the Midwest and the 2025 class.

It’s no secret that he has been a priority target for Jonathan Smith and the coaching staff since they arrived in East Lansing. But they appear to be taking their recruitment of Montgomery to the next level. Michigan State offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren is reportedly heading to visit with him in person this coming Thursday.

Who is Ryan Montgomery?

Ryan Montgomery is a four-star quarterback from Ohio who is one of the best in the 2025 class. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Montgomery is the No. 199 player in the class and the No. 15 quarterback. He also is the No. 9 player from Ohio, which is very impressive as Ohio is always home to some of the best recruits in the Midwest.

Montgomery has been a starter in high school since he was a freshman. He has been so good in high school that he even earned first-team Ohio Northwest Division I honors as a freshman. Montgomery also won the quarterback accuracy challenge at Under Armour’s Future 50 camp back in June, proving once again that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the country.

Many other big name schools have also offered him and are recruiting him hard. He has received other offers from Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Penn State, Florida, and many others. Ohio State, in particular, stands out as his older brother, Luke Montgomery, committed to the Buckeyes in the 2023 class. There’s no telling if this is impacting his recruitment or not, but it’s something you can’t ignore.

There is no clear leader in Montgomery’s recruitment, so Michigan State has as good of a chance as anyone. If this visit goes well, hopefully the Spartans will be able to get him to visit East Lansing soon.
