Michigan State football has an injury problem, it appears. The Spartans released their injury report before their contest against Indiana and every week, the list has been growing. It was no different on Saturday. Two Spartans are questionable, and another player was listed as out for the season.

Who is out for Michigan State football?

WR Alante Brown

Brown remains out for this week, as his injury was called long-term by head coach Jonathan Smith after a pre-game injury against Youngstown State.

LB Marcellius Pulliam

Pulliam stepped up with Jordan Hall ejected for targeting and Wayne Matthews out with a injury against USC, but was on the injury report the next week. He is out today.

DB Ade Willie

Willie has been out since the week four contest against USC, as Well. Willie was the starting nickel this season, and called a “gametime decision” earlier in the week by Jonathan Smith.

TE Jayden Savoury

Savoury remains out with an undisclosed injury. He has one catch for 16 yards in his four games played this year.

K Tarik Ahmetbasic

Ahmetbasic remains out. There has been no update on his injury report since the first few weeks of the season.

LS Kaden Schickel

Much like Ahmetbasic, there has been no update on Schickel since the start of the season. Schickel tore his ACL against Michigan last October. Jack Wills remains in place of the senior for the time being.

OL Stanton Ramil

Ramil was given a timeline of a month after the USC game, and this was one week away from a month. It appears he is not ahead of schedule in his recovery.

OL Kristian Phillips

Phillips suffered an injury last week and needed a boot and crutches to leave the field. He was called “out, but optimistic” by Smith earlier in the week, but that appears to be false hope. He is out today.

TE Brennan Parachek

Parachek is out for the third time this season, as he was listed out against Western Michigan and last week against UCLA. His injury is undisclosed.

Who is questionable?

DB Nikai Martinez

Martinez is a gametime decision, as he was listed as questionable for the Spartans this game. Martinez has been out since colliding with Quindarius Dunnigan late in the first half of the USC game last month.

DT Grady Kelly

Kelly saw his first start for MSU against Nebraska, but then was replaced by Ru’Quan Buckley as a starter last week. Now, the pass-rushing defensive tackle is questionable. His injury is not disclosed.

Who is out for the year?

OL Ashton Lepo

Lepo is out for the season. He recently had his best game of the season, per PFF, against the UCLA Bruins. He will not be returning this season. This does make him eligible for a medical redshirt, as he has only played four games.

EDGE Anelu Lafaele

Lafaele is officially added to the list after an MSU spokesperson confirmed he has a season ending injury last week.

They join DBs Andrew Brinson IV, Caleb Gash, LB Brady Pretzlaff, and OL Luka Vincic as out for the season.

Who is back?

DB NiJhay Burt

Burt returns for the Spartans after missing a game with injury last week.

QB Aidan Chiles

Chiles left with an injury last week but is officially back and warming up on the field. He was limited in practice this last week. All four Spartan quarterbacks made the travel roster for the first time this season.

TE Michael Masunas

Masunas was a surprise announcement as injured by Jonathan Smith, but he made the trip with a leg sleeve on in warmups.

The game kicks at 3:30 p.m. EST on Peacock.

Michigan State Media and Information Management Class of '22. Emmett covers primarily football, recruiting, and basketball for Spartan Shadows, alongside writing for Detroit Lions on SI. He has also written for Spartan Avenue, Basic Blues, and Hail WV.
