Michigan State football: Star freshman LB Jordan Hall hints at return

Michigan State football fans would love some good news from Jordan Hall and he hinted at that on Sunday night.

Portal this, portal that. Portal, portal, portal. That’s the talk of college football since the transfer window opened on Dec. 4. Michigan State football was expected to be one of the harder hit teams given the coaching changes that have occurred over the last six months. Since the portal opened, we have seen 20-plus Spartans enter and so far only three have returned.

It has been speculated that some of these guys will be back and they only entered the portal to keep their options open with the new coaching staff coming to town. Plenty of fan favorites have entered but there is arguably only one player from a talent perspective that Jonathan Smith needs to keep from last year’s 4-8 team.

That player is freshman linebacker Jordan Hall.

After a disappointing finish to the weekend for Michigan State fans with the basketball team dropping their second conference game against Nebraska on Sunday night, fans can find relief knowing that the freshman linebacker hinted at a return to East Lansing last night.

On his second Instagram, or ‘finsta’ as the kids call it, Hall posted a photo of the MSU football team running out onto the field during the season opener against CMU captioned ‘How could I say no to this’.

By no means does this guarantee Hall’s return but I certainly can’t see how it would be a bad thing. Hall is a special talent both on and off the field.  He carries a leadership quality that can’t be coached. Plus him and his mom are super valuable to the outlook of the team from an off the field perspective.

Hall’s mother was thrilled with Michigan State’s hiring of Courtney Hawkins as receivers coach which can’t hurt.

Hall logged 31 tackles and 4.5 sacks during his freshman campaign.

During Smith’s introductory presser, he promised a program of ‘low ego, high output’ and Jordan Hall fits that description perfectly. An official announcement of his return would be huge.
