Michigan State Football Transfer Portal Recap, Day Two

Published

Nolan Gerou, Spartan Shadows

Another day in the chaos that is the transfer portal has passed for Michigan State football. Today, thankfully, there were no new portal entries from the already depleted Spartans. However, there were quite a few newly announced visits and players that Michigan State and Pat Fitzgerald had reached out to. Remember, the Spartans have nearly 50 roster spots to fill, so expect a lot of names.

For a recap of yesterday, please click here. This includes other official visitors, along with a full list of all players to hit the portal from Michigan State football. Additionally, there are a few more former Spartans with visits set, as announced in that article.

Who Has MSU Expressed Interest In?

  • Minnesota RB Fame Ijeboi (RS-Fr.)
  • Purdue WR Arhmad Branch (RS-So.)

The Spartans reached out to a pair of Big Ten transfers, with Ijeboi playing against Michigan State last fall. Ijeboi has rushed for 447 yards and two touchdowns for the Gophers, while primarily backing up Darius Taylor.

Branch caught 14 passes for 212 yards and a pair of touchdowns with Purdue this season, in addition to running the ball once for a three-yard touchdown in 2024.

Who Is Visiting Michigan State Football?

Note: All eligibility is listed as what the player competed with during the 2025 season.

  • Colorado State OT Christian Martin (RS-Jr.)
  • UC Davis RB Carter Vargas (So.)
  • Elon QB Landen Clark (RS-Fr.)
  • UConn OT Ben Murawski (RS-Jr.)
  • South Carolina IOL Nick Sharpe (RS-Sr.)
  • ETSU WR Jeremiah Harrison (Fr.)
  • Georgia Southern OL Robert Wright Jr. (RS-So.)
  • Furman WR Evan James (Fr.)
  • Northern Arizona DB Michael Hurst (RS-Jr.)
  • UConn RB Cam Edwards (RS-Sr.)

Christian Martin only allowed two sacks for the Colorado State Rams, but his pass blocking grade was rated extremely low, in part from 41 pressures allowed.

Christian Vargas averaged 6.6 yards per carry for UC Davis, and also caught two touchdown passes.

Landen Clark was a star for Elon in 2025, passing for over 2,000 yards while also rushing for over 600 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Ben Murawski is a highly sought-after prospect in the transfer portal, as his run blocking grade was one of the top marks in the FBS.

Nick Sharpe is a former offensive line coach Nick Tabacca product, originally transferring from Wake Forest after 2024. Sharpe has only allowed six sacks in over 1,200 snaps, including over 900 snaps between the last two seasons alone.

Harrison and James are each talented freshmen that shined in the FCS, with Harrison recording 652 receiving yards and five touchdowns this season with ETSU. James, meanwhile, was even better, being listed as an FCS Freshman All-American after a 868-total-yard, eight touchdown campaign.

Michael Hurst was a punishing defensive back for Northern Arizona, and has a nose for the ball. The junior had 6.5 tackles for loss during his 2025 campaign, in addition to a pass breakup.

Wright Jr., in his first season as a starter, played over 750 snaps at Georgia Southern, and graded favorably against the pass. His season did come with growing pains, as he allowed five sacks in 416 pass snaps in 2025.

Cam Edwards is a hyper-productive running back from UConn, rushing for 2,690 yards and 27 touchdowns over the last three seasons with UConn, in addition to having nearly 500 receiving yards and four touchdowns in the receiving game. Michigan State football has reached out to UConn before, grabbing Nate Carter and Malcolm Bell in recent years.

Players Off The Board For Michigan State

  • Old Dominion RB Trequan Jones (Maryland)
  • Florida State RB Kam Davis (No Destination Announced)

The Spartans lost out on a pair of running backs today, with Trequan Jones heading to Maryland, and the Spartans pulling their offer to Kam Davis. The Spartans, as of this writing, have four offers out to other running backs, along with interest in Fame Ijeboi.

Former Spartans On The Move

Today was less hectic than yesterday, but a few Spartans that hit the portal this offseason have picked up offers and visits. Aydan and Elisha West each announced an offer from UConn. Aidan Chiles is drawing interest from Virginia and Clemson.

Payton Stewart will be visiting New Mexico. Stone Chaney has a trio of visits, starting with Arkansas State, then touring to Buffalo and Fresno State. Jalen Thompson is heading down to College Station to visit Texas A&M, before visiting Notre Dame. Makhi Frazier will be visiting Florida.

Who Has Committed To Michigan State Football?

From the portal, no one, as of this writing. Check back for further updates!

Spartans Pick Up 2026 Commit

Pat Fitzgerald was also busy with the 2026 class, and he landed the preferred walk-on commitment from Grand Rapids (MI.) native Jack VanProoyen. VanProoyen is a projected tight end that had received offers from Ferris State and Army, among other schools.

The portal still has 12 more days of action, so stay tuned to my X account (@E_Matasovsky57) and this site for breaking updates!
