Michigan State football freshman Nick Marsh had a breakout game against Maryland on Saturday afternoon. Watch his highlights.
Looking at the box score on Saturday, one would be led to think that Tai Felton of Maryland was the biggest star of the game with his 11 catches for 152 yards and a touchdown, but then you look at the Michigan State football side of things.
Nick Marsh had the best game of anyone on Saturday afternoon.
That’s right, the true freshman receiver who was held in check in Week 1 against FAU had the best game of his young career and dominated all the skill players on Saturday in College Park. In fact, he had eight receptions for 194 yards and a touchdown. He was the Spartans’ best player and he helped Aidan Chiles get back on track.
In case you missed the game, here are each one of Marsh’s eight catches, including his two 50-plus-yarders.
Marsh had the best receiving game of any Spartan freshman since Ricky White back in 2020 when he put Michigan State on his back to beat Michigan in Ann Arbor. Marsh’s 184 yards on eight catches in his first Big Ten game just go to show that he’s going to be a star.
Alante Brown went down with a serious injury in Week 1 and might miss the rest of the season so Michigan State needed a new receiver to step up. Marsh did just that with the opportunity that was presented. All he did was score the game-tying touchdown with under five minutes left in the fourth quarter and catch everything that was thrown his way. He wasn’t just a big-play threat, but he also moved the chains with regularity.
Michigan State needed a receiver to step up and Marsh is proving that he’s going to do just that.
