After a tough 94-91 loss against No. 8 Michigan on Sunday, Robyn Fralick’s Michigan State women’s basketball team is looking forward to Wednesday night against No. 22 Maryland. The Terrapins are currently 17-6, but stand only ninth in the Big Ten standings with a conference record of 5-6.

Maryland has lost its last four games and cannot seem to find its footing. Three out of the last four have been against top-25 teams, and that does not change with the Terrapins trip to East Lansing.

For Michigan State, it is a chance for a rebound game after a high-scoring affair with Michigan on Sunday. The Spartans played close the entire contest, even drawing the game to overtime, but in the end the Wolverines pulled ahead with 26 points from Mila Holloway and 23 from Olivia Olson.

The green and white competed with Michigan through and through with impressive performances from Kennedy Blair and Jalyn Brown with 21 apiece. As time expired, sophomore Ines Sotelo put up a half court shot that almost dropped.

Looking forward to Maryland, the Spartans will have their hands full with Oluchi Okananwa and Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu. Okananwa leads Maryland with 17 points per game and two steals per game. Ozzy-Momodu is not one to forget either, as she currently leads Maryland with seven rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game.

Fralick spoke to the media previously about the Michigan State women’s basketball schedule to finish Big Ten play and encouraged fans to show up with the heavy competition.

“I’m challenging fans and students to come. Bring a friend. Bring a cousin. Bring an aunt. This league is rough. Every game is a battle and we need the fans like we had tonight.”

The Maryland and Michigan State women’s basketball game will tip off at 6:30 p.m. ET, streaming on the Big Ten Network. Both teams are looking for a win to get out of a recent slump, and with the competition in this matchup, anything is possible.
