The Michigan State women’s basketball team is on a stretch that most Spartans will not be able to even recognize online. But that does not mean that the green and white should be ignored or not watched. Head coach Robyn Fralick has her squad up to impressive 16-1 overall record after an intimidating west coach stretch against Oregon and Washington that has MSU ranked fourth in the Big Ten.

Nebraska enters the Breslin Center ranked 24th in the nation with a 14-3 record. The Cornhuskers are 3-3 in Big Ten play thus far into the season, after losing to the third-ranked UCLA Bruins on Sunday, January 11th, 83-61.

Michigan State’s main threat to worry about tonight is Nebraska sophomore Britt Prince, a 5-foot-11 guard from Omaha, Neb.  Prince is leading her team in points (18.3), assists (4.4) and steals per game (1.1). Down in the paint, Nebraska is relying on fellow sophomore Amiah Hargrove, who leads the Cornhuskers in rebounds per game with 6.0 a contest.

The Spartans are led by senior forward Grace VanSlooten, who averages 14.3 points per game for Fralick’s squad.  Redshirt sophomore Kennedy Blair is another Spartan to watch in tonight’s contest for MSU as she leads her fellow Lady Spartans with 7.2 rebounds a game and 5.3 assists per contest.

Michigan State’s defense will be important in this one tonight, as six Lady Spartans are currently averaging over a steal per game, with junior Rashida Jones leading the green and white with 2.6 per game.

If Michigan State leaves with a victory tonight, the Spartans will have a nine-game win streak, pushing their overall record up to 17-1, with a legit threat to break into the top ten nationally if the stones fall into their places.

For Nebraska, its a get right game after losing two out of their last four games.  If the Cornhuskers can come out on top in this one, it will put them in the right direction.
