Michigan State football has been hit with some bad news lately, but Texas A&M transfer Tunmise Adeleye is “unbothered.”
Wednesday was a day in which a lot of Michigan State football fans would like to forget. Heck, this whole offseason has been one that we all wish would cease to exist. It’s been a rough half-year for the program.
First, it was the 5-7 season with the Indiana loss at home as the cherry on top. Germie Bernard wasted little time after the season and entered the transfer portal. Next was losing pass rush specialist to the NFL and Marco Coleman to Georgia Tech. And then Mel Tucker parted ways with his recruiting coordinator seemingly out of nowhere. Then top 2024 commit Nick Marsh decommitted. After that, Keon Coleman and Payton Thorne who transferred out. New top 2024 commit Jamari Howard then decommitted. And finally, Coleman committed to Florida State and TCU transfer Kee’yon Stewart flipped to Arkansas 11 days after committing to Michigan State.
It’s been a whirlwind of bad news after bad news.
Fans have been hitting the panic button and players have done their best to talk everyone off the ledge but Wednesday was the straw that broke the camel’s back for a lot of Spartans.
But like he’s done all offseason, Texas A&M transfer Tunmise Adeleye kept his head down. He tweeted “unbothered” on Wednesday following seemingly endless bad news and some fans were talked off the ledge, even for just a moment.
It seems like Adeleye has dealt with a ton since coming to Michigan State such as the loss of Jordan who helped bring him to East Lansing as well as his defensive line coach. And then he watched as his team’s best offensive player entered the portal and the quarterback situation remained a question mark with the departure of Thorne.
How did he respond to all of that? He tweeted that he was looking forward to putting the team on the defense’s back. That’s confidence. You love to see it.
Now, he’s unbothered by the swarm of bad news. He’s dealt with that at Texas A&M already, but he looks poised to make sure Michigan State exceeds expectations in 2023.
If the players are unbothered, maybe we should be, too.
