Michigan State basketball makes top 3 for 5-star SF Bryson Tucker
This would be a huge recruiting win.
Michigan State basketball made the top three for one of the top prospects in the 2024 class, five-star Bryson Tucker.
Michigan State basketball is fresh off a dicey 76-66 win over Minnesota on Thursday night. That, however, wasn’t the only good news for the Spartans that came on Thursday.
MSU has all but wrapped up its 2024 recruiting class, except for one big fish still out there. Five-star small forward Bryson Tucker announced his top three on Thursday and Michigan State made the cut.
5āļø Bryson Tucker is one of the top remaining prospects in the 2024 class. The 6-7 wing is weighing both the college route and professional opportunities.

Five-star Bryson Tucker recruiting update
Bryson Tucker is a five-star small forward from Arlington, Va. He is one of the highest-ranked recruits in the 2024 class who is still uncommitted. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, he is the No. 19 player in the entire class. He is also the No. 7 small forward and No. 1 player in the state of Virginia.
Tucker is a great finisher at the rim, but the best part of his game by far is his mid-range. He is deadly anywhere from 12-17 feet which is something you donāt hear often anymore. That unique skill set has phased out of basketball in recent years, which is partially the reason why it is so tough to guard. He is also able to shoot the 3-ball, but thatās not one of his specialities or what heās known for.
Tucker’s final three consists of two college programs and one professional league. Kansas is the other college in his top three along with Michigan State, but the NBAās G-League Ignite also made his final three. The Ignite is a professional team where Bryson would play for one year as a way to prepare himself for the NBA.
MSUās chances at landing Tucker
It’s hard to say what MSUās chances are of landing Tucker. No predictions have been made for him yet, however Michigan State is the only team that is āwarmā on his 247Sports profile. That may not mean much, so we should all take that with a grain of salt.
Something to keep an eye on is that Kansasā 2024 recruiting class is a little better than MSUās. Kansasā 2024 class is No. 9 in the country with a five-star in the mix while the Spartans class is No. 13 without any five-stars. Again, this likely doesnāt mean much and is more of an observation.
Comparing MSU to the Ignite now, I think the Spartans stack up well. These professional G-League teams used to be more of a draw before the NIL era, but now that college athletes can make a lot of money these professional teams havenāt been stealing as many of these recruits recently.
Overall, you have to like MSUās chances to win this recruitment. Anything can happen as no prediction has been made, but Michigan State basketball has done all it can to win this recruitment. No decision date is set yet, but that could change any day.
