Michigan State football made the trimmed list of four-star athlete Elijah Dotson on Wednesday night along with some prominent programs.
Michigan State football and Jonathan Smith have been getting lots of good news from in-state recruits recently. First MSU made the top four for two high school teammates. Then a four-star offensive lineman from Michigan scheduled his first of three upcoming visits to Michigan State.
Now the good news is continuing from another in-state four-star who just put the Spartans in his top eight.
Elijah Dotson is a four-star athlete from Detroit. He is about as good as they come from the state of Michigan, and On3 shows that in their latest rankings. They currently have Elijah as the No. 5 player in the state. He also is the No. 360 player in the country and No. 17 ATH as well.
Elijah truly fits the mold of an athlete perfectly, as he plays all over the field for his high school team. This includes wide receiver, corner, safety, return man, and even as a wildcat quarterback. Now I don’t know about you, but I desperately want someone with that versatility in East Lansing.
Tennessee, Purdue, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Illinois, Kansas, and Penn State made Dotson’s top eight with Michigan State. However, it is MSU’s biggest rival Michigan that appears to be the current leader in this recruitment. The Wolverines have three crystal ball predictions to win this recruitment on 247Sports.
I wouldn’t count the Spartans out of this recruitment just yet. Dotson recently visited East Lansing in early February for Smith’s first junior day. Soon after, Elijah was also seen wearing MSU gear at a camp as well.
If Smith can get him on campus again, especially for an official visit this summer, that will tell us just high the Spartans are on his list. But for the time being, they are in position and have a chance to win this important in-state recruiting battle.
