The details of the harassment case against Mel Tucker have emerged from an exclusive report via USA Today.
A massive report hit social media late on Saturday night — or early Sunday morning — as Dan Murphy of ESPN revealed that Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker was the subject of an ongoing sexual assault investigation.
It was just a horrible look for the head coach and while Murphy had no reports, it felt like it was only a matter of time before someone released more information to clear the air.
Well, it only took about a half hour.
Details have been made public by a USA Today report just minutes after the Murphy report dropped.
This is not good. The first report by Murphy was ugly but these details could be the nail in the coffin. If true, the allegations by Brenda Tracy, a rape survivor, would mean the end of Tucker in East Lansing and it would just give the school another black eye.
The school has been trying to repair its image for years and Tucker was willing to help with that. He brought Tracy in to help fight the culture of sexual violence in sports and it seemed like the perfect move for the new head coach. These accusations by Tracy are serious and it just hurts to think about him potentially treating a survivor this way. It’s traumatizing.
Ugly doesn’t even begin to describe this situation. It’s a horrible look for Tucker. It’s another bad look for the school. And it sets Tracy’s recovery period back even further. This is a horrible situation.
We’ll continue to provide updates as we find out more and more details come out, but I’d expect a statement from the university or Mel Tucker on Sunday at the latest. We’ll keep you posted.
