Michigan State basketball has extended another 2025 offer. Five-star guard Darius Adams was offered by Tom Izzo.
This is one thing I love about Tom Izzo. When some coaches dial recruiting back a bit during the season, Izzo seems to ramp it up. This is the case here once again as five-star guard Darius Adams was just offered by Michigan State basketball.
Izzo and his staff have been after him hard recently, so it’s no surprise to finally see this offer come. MSU assistant coaches Thomas Kelley and Mark Montgomery saw him play live this past Saturday. So he appears to be a top priority for our staff in the early stages of this recruiting cycle.
Who is Darius Adams?
Adams is a five-star guard from La Porte, Ind. He is the No. 24 overall player in the class of 2025 and No. 4 player at his position according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
He is 6-foot-5 and 165 pounds, showing he already has the height needed to compete at the Power Six level. Darius will need to add more weight before college, but that is over 1.5 years away still.
Adams had a solid game when Kelley and Montgomery came to see him play this weekend. He finished with a near double-double with 14 points, eight rebounds, and two assists on the night — a very solid showing.
Recruiting competition
As with any five-star recruitment, this one will be tough to win. Many great schools have already offered Adams including Kansas, Indiana, Michigan, Alabama, and Rutgers.
He has also taken three unofficial visits already to Indiana, Notre Dame, and Tennessee. It is too early to have a feel for who is leading this recruitment, but these three schools are likely at the top since he already prioritized visiting them.
Michigan State does have one thing in our favor in this recruitment. Davis plays his high school ball at La Lumiere, which may sound familiar to you. Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jeremy Fears Jr. also played at this school, so Izzo and his staff have a lot of familiarity with their program. MSU likely already has good relationships with Adams’ coaching staff which will only help the Spartans out.
By no means will this be the deciding factor in his recruitment, but it is a nice plus to have on the Spartans’ side. There is no timetable for a commitment in this recruitment and the next step is getting him on campus for a visit.
