Michigan State basketball coaches stopped in two see two top-30 prospects in the 2025 recruiting class on Saturday.

The grind never stops for Michigan State basketball coaches, even in the middle of the season. Even with the season in full swing, Tom Izzo and the coaching staff are still on the road recruiting hard.

That is once again the case as two Spartan assistant coaches, Thomas Kelley and Mark Montgomery, were out recruiting two extremely talented prospects. Both recruits play for La Lumiere School where we have already had some recent success in recruiting.

Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jeremy Fears Jr. also attended this school which could be a good sign for us. Jeremy likely knows both guys pretty well, so that’s always a plus for the Spartans. This also means the coaching staff is already familiar with this program and likely has good connections built, too.

Lets’s take a look at the two talented recruits MSU is after.

Who are Darius Adams and Jerry Easter II?

Darius Adams is the first of two talented kids who MSU was in to see on Saturday. Adams is one of the best recruits in the country, currently a five-star and the No. 24 player in the 2025 class. He is a 6-foot-5 combo guard and is the No. 4 at the position in the country.

Adams had an excellent game in front of the Michigan State coaches. He went for 14 points, eight rebounds, and two assists on Saturday. This may not seem like an overly impressive stat line, but La Lumiere has college talent all over the court, so it’s hard to get each player going every game. But a near double-double is never something to shrug off.

Jerry Easter II was the second player Michigan State basketball was checking out and he was extremely impressive in this game. Easter is a 6-foot-3 shooting guard and a four-star prospect also in the 2025 class. He also is the No. 26 overall player and No. 4 player at his position.

In this game on Saturday, Easter came to play, scoring 23 points and adding four rebounds and three assists. Similarly to Adams, Easter had a solid all around game, but really showcased his scoring ability in this one.

Both of these recruitments are in the early stages so there’s no real gauge yet as to where Michigan State stands. But both players are heavily sought after, so Tom Izzo and his staff are gonna have to work hard to win these recruitments.

Regardless, it’s nice to see the staff working so hard on the recruiting trail right now. Some coaches slack off in recruiting during the heart of the season, but that isn’t the Michigan State way and I bet it never will be.
