Michigan State football is in the running for a number of top recruits but two are announcing their decisions soon.
Michigan State football is on a bit of a recruiting hot streak as of late. Mel Tucker and Co. have already landed some excellent talent recently, but things could soon heat up even further. Two players that the Spartans have been heavily recruiting have each set a commitment date for July 7, and if MSU could complete the deal for either or both of these guys, it would be a big deal.
Let’s have a look at who could potentially be incoming.
Nick Marsh, 4-star WR, River Rouge (Mich.)
You may know this name already. Nick Marsh originally committed to the Spartans in July of 2022, although he obviously later reneged on the deal. Despite this, it’s looking like MSU may be in a great spot to secure his services (and land a rare re-commitment), this time for good.
A four-star, Marsh is a top-100 player nationally per the 247 composite, and the third-best player in Michigan. With regard to predictions, insiders are currently split between MSU and Penn State, but the latest forecasts have encouragingly been in favor of the Spartans.
At 6-foot-3, he would also be a great eventual replacement for the departed Keon Coleman as a big-bodied receiver. MSU’s receiver room is looking a little thin, but Marsh would go a long way towards fixing that.
Dylan Williams, 4-star LB, Long Beach Poly (Calif.)
A top-200 player per the composite, Williams hails from Long Beach, Calif. As it stands, two of the most likely candidates for the linebacker appear to be USC and Oregon, but that doesn’t mean MSU is out of the running. Williams took an official visit to East Lansing last month, and Mel Tucker has been recruiting him for quite a while. Michigan State’s linebacker room is looking great for the present, but nothing is a given. It’s more than likely Williams would have plenty of opportunity in the future at MSU.
Final thoughts
I’d absolutely love to see MSU land either of these guys — they both look like difference-makers. The Spartans have built up some positive momentum on the recruiting trail recently, but securing either of these prospects could really get things going. It’s also worth mentioning that it probably won’t be long before David Stone (a massive, longtime MSU target) commits, and landing high-profile recruits like Marsh or Williams would only aid in his recruitment. For now, though, keep your eyes open.
We’ll see what happens.
