Another high-priority four-star target adds his name to the impressive official visit list for Michigan State football this June.
Kamar Mothudi, one of the nation’s top two-way players in high school this past year, announced a new official visit to check out Michigan State football.
Mothudi projects as a linebacker in college but also plays running back. He announced today that his top five has been finalized. It includes Utah, Michigan State, Washington, Texas, and Oregon. Those are also the five getting official visits. He will visit Utah on June 2, MSU on June 9, Washington on June 17, Texas on June 20, and Oregon on June 23.
Kamar stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 220 pounds. He currently attends Campbell Hall in Valley Village, Calif. The 247Sports Composite lists him as a four-star recruit and the 20th-ranked linebacker in the 2024 class. While playing running back this past year, he also ran for over 1,400 yards and scored 18 touchdowns. Mothudi is a super athlete and also plays basketball and runs track as well. Some scouts think he’s even athletic enough to get looks at safety. He could eventually have a role similar to what Darius Snow figures on the current squad. He’s really a piece that could flourish in several spots along the defensive side of the ball.
Mothudi was recently at the National Preps Showcase a couple of weeks ago. He earned overall MVP honors there. At one point during drills, he ran at an impressive 20.6 miles per hour. Speed like that shows that he could potentially flourish as a coverage linebacker in space. Something we have been missing in Scottie Hazelton’s defenses so far.
The four-star has also shown a willingness to be physical in trying to stop the run as well.
Mothudi confirmed his new visit schedule to 247Sports’ Greg Biggins on Tuesday. He originally did not include the Spartans or Texas in the initial top list but they’ve made a strong enough impression on him to warrant a visit.
Oregon still appears to be the heavy front-runner here but it’s a good sign for MSU to be included. Hopefully Mel Tucker can conjure some momentum to make it interesting before Kamar hopes to commit later this summer. He has crystal balls from two 247Sports analysts placed for him going to Oregon but don’t count out MSU or Texas. Both programs have the ability to tighten the recruiting race down the stretch.
