Michigan State football has made the cut for a couple of in-state teammates as they trimmed their lists to four.

At this point in the offseason it isn’t uncommon to see Michigan State football make “top schools lists” for a large amount of high school recruits. However, it is uncommon to see teammates from the same school simultaneously put Michigan State at the top of their list.

That’s exactly what happened to MSU as two teammates from Michigan have the Spartans in their top four.

Three-star linebacker Charles White is the first of two teammates to put the Spartans in his top four. White is one of the top players in the state, currently ranked No. 10 according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He is also the No. 60 linebacker in the country and No. 537 overall player.

Also included in White’s top four are Boston College, Purdue, and Kansas. He will be taking an official visit to East Lansing on June 7. Boston College and Kansas also have official visits scheduled surrounding the weekend White will be in East Lansing.

Antonio Johnson is the other teammate that has put Michigan State in his top four. Johnson is a three-star offensive tackle and is the No. 17 player from the state of Michigan. He is also the No. 803 player in the country and No. 57 player at his position.

Illinois, Penn State, and West Virginia join Michigan State in Johnson’s top four. Unlike his teammate, Antonio hasn’t scheduled any official visits yet. It is possible that he will visit MSU the same weekend as White on June 7.

It’s unclear if White and Johnson are a package deal and want to play together in college. Many high school teammates want to play together at the next level, but it hardly ever works out that way.

They would both be solid pieces to add to the Spartans’ 2025 recruiting class, so Jonathan Smith would be wise to prioritize both as the cycle goes on. Neither are close to committing, but the Spartans are in as good of a position as you could hope for this early in the recruiting season.
