Michigan State football has locked in an official visit from one of the top defensive backs in the 2025 class, four-star Keon Young.

Official visit season is fast approaching, and Michigan State football and Jonathan Smith are working hard to get these visits scheduled. The official visit season is always an exciting time because that’s when you learn what schools recruits are prioritizing.

Michigan State just got some good news on this front as one of the best players in the country will be taking an official visit to East Lansing later this summer.

Keon Young is a four-star safety from Lakeland, Fla. Young is one of the top prospects in the country according to 247Sports, currently ranked as the No. 233 player in the country. He also is the No. 20 safety in the country and No. 28 player from Florida.

247Sports only has stats posted from 2022 for Keon, but he had a very solid sophomore season that year. He accounted for 41 tackles, four sacks, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

Young will be making his official visit to East Lansing from May 31 through June 2. This likely will be the first weekend of summer official visits across the country, so Young choosing to come to MSU first is a big deal.

As with any high profile recruit from Florida, you would expect the big Florida schools to be in contention. That is the case here as Young has a crystal ball prediction to commit to Florida. However, that prediction is two months old now. There also hasn’t been another prediction made, so that leads me to think this is just a shot in the dark prediction instead of one based on any insider intel.

Another school to keep an eye on is Minnesota. The Gophers, along with MSU, are the only two schools warm on Young’s 247Sports profile. Minnesota also has an official visit scheduled for the weekend after his trip to East Lansing.

Lastly we have the Kansas Jayhawks. They also have an official visit set up the weekend after Minnesota on June 14. Kansas really hasn’t been much of a threat in football, but after a few decent seasons they are beginning to pick up some steam on the recruiting trail.

This will definitely be a name you will want to keep an eye on. A commitment won’t be coming anytime soon as he will take his official visits this summer first. But the Spartans are in great position today and hopefully will stay in contention down the road in this recruitment.
