Michigan State football has picked up a commitment from three-star tight end Emmett Bork from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.

Over the past few days, Jonathan Smith has been on fire. The first-year Michigan State football coach has been adding depth pieces via the portal in guys like Lejond Cavazos from North Carolina, Jalen Satchell from Old Dominion, and Marcellius Pulliam from Miami.

And now he’s also focusing on building his 2025 recruiting class before National Signing Day.

In year one, it’s tough to really gain momentum on the recruiting trail because players are hesitant to buy in to a new regime when they haven’t coached a single game for their new school. But Smith is doing a solid job of recruiting even before his first Spartan team takes the field.

On Monday, he landed three-star tight end Emmett Bork from Wisconsin.

Bork is now the fourth commitment in the Spartans’ 2025 class, joining borderline four-star quarterback Leo Hannan and three-star in-state linebackers Charles White and Di’Mari Malone (committed on Sunday). The class was at zero commitments less than a month ago and now it looks like it’s starting to take shape with official visit season approaching.

And this is a nice recruiting win for Brian Wozniak, too. The former Oregon State tight ends coach has a nice resume and he has Jack Velling leading the room with Brennan Parachek this season. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him land some even bigger fish moving forward.

Bork doesn’t have a composite rating yet, but 247Sports has him listed as the No. 74 tight end in the class and Wisconsin’s 13th-best prospect. He had just picked up offers from Rutgers, Indiana, and Illinois last week along with Michigan State so he was heating up. It’s huge to see that Smith can close the deal on a rising recruit just days after offering and before an official visit.
