Transfer portal season has been kind to Michigan State football thus far despite losing some key players and projected 2025 starters.
Jonathan Smith and Co. have gone into the portal to land some help on both sides of the ball and while there’s still plenty of work to do if the staff is going to turn the program around and make it relevant again, this is a good start.
Nowadays, the transfer portal is arguably more important than high school recruiting because these guys can come in and have instant impacts as opposed to high school prospects needing 1-2 years of development, on average.
Michigan State has had a steady hand in the portal over the years and we’ve seen some superstars comes to East Lansing via transfer.
Guys like Kenneth Walker III, Jayden Reed, Ben VanSumeren, Jacoby Windmon, Nate Carter, Jonathan Kim, Jordan Turner, Jack Velling, Aidan Chiles, Luke Newman, Wayne Matthews III, and Jordan Turner have all had major impacts over the past few years. They’ve gone from portal additions to team leaders and while most of those guys are gone, few return to carry the torch.
And more help is on the way.
Who? Well, we’ve got you covered with our official Michigan State football 2025 transfer portal tracker.

There’s still a long way to go.
