Michigan State missed out on Grand Valley transfer Jahdae Walker which could help the Spartans’ chances with Keon Coleman.
Grand Valley State transfer wide receiver Jahdae Walker announced on Thursday that he has committed to Texas A&M over Michigan State.
Walker began his college career in the state of Michigan at Grand Valley State where he played two seasons. He burst onto the scene this past season recording 30 catches for 623 yards and four touchdowns. After this great season, also thanks to his 6-foot-4 measurables, he was viewed as one of the best Division 2 transfers in all of college football.
Missing out on Walker is no doubt a missed opportunity. Being from Grand Valley, he was in Michigan State’s backyard which should have given the Spartans a leg up in his recruitment. Could this recruiting loss however be a good thing from the Keon Coleman perspective?
The MSU star wide receiver entered his name into the transfer portal about a week ago which shocked all of Spartan Nation. Since entering the portal, Coleman has taken two visits to other schools, Florida State and Ole Miss. However, no commitment has been made by Coleman yet. Usually when talking about transfers, if the prospect likes a school on their visit they will commit on the spot, these recruitments do not get drawn out like they do in high school. So no commitment from Coleman could mean that he is realizing his home is still here in East Lansing.
Coleman was also planning on taking a visit to Texas A&M but has since canceled that trip after the commitment of Jahdae Walker. This to me shows that if Michigan State would have landed Walker, we would have stood zero chance of getting Keon to return.
Missing out on Walker is no doubt a big loss for MSU. But there is still the chance Keon Coleman comes back to Michigan State which has always been the first choice for every MSU fan. Keep the faith.
