Rumored black Michigan State football alternate jersey leak making its rounds

Michigan State football fans have been hoping for a black alternate jersey concept for a while and they may have gotten their wish.

For years now, Michigan State football fans have taken to Twitter to beg for a “blackout” style alternate jersey. The basketball team has theirs and they are widely popular. Plus other schools such as Nebraska, OSU, Northwestern, and Oregon have all had similar concepts unveiled to fans enjoyment.

Spartan fans have asked for one for a long time. As recently as a couple weeks ago, rumors started swirling that we may have something coming on the horizon. The football twitter page has been leaving cryptic tweets occasionally teasing something big being announced on July 28. Many believe this is when the black jerseys will be releasing to the public.

According to another rumor and jersey leak by Nike on Rally House’s website, that may be exactly what’s going to happen.

Twitter account MSU Uniforms gained a ton of traction after tweet out the discovery by the above user who spotted a retail leak showing jersey rebrands. Now the jerseys that were posted were the “youth replica jerseys” which often aren’t exact matches to the actual Spartan jerseys.

The rumored leak did show a new dark green home jersey with white lettering, a white road jersey with dark green lettering, and a black alternate jersey with white lettering. All three jerseys also sported the “greek key” trim design on the sleeve. That design is on some of the basketball jerseys as well.

If true, the black alternates would be the first fully black alternate jersey in modern school history. It would also be one of the bigger alternate uniform changes since the green and bronze Nike Pro Combat jerseys were released over a decade ago.

Personally I have been screaming to the hilltops for a black out jersey. The youth replicas listed in the tweet are a good start (pending the number actually isn’t that big). I would have preferred a black and neon concept to black and white. Either way I think the black and white ones would look great. The black hoops jerseys have always been my personal favorite, even though we don’t always do the best in them.

Hopefully football will have some better luck with these alternates.

Also, it goes with out saying but we won’t know for sure if the black concept is coming until the announcement on July 28. Rest assured,Spartan fans are anxious waiting for the reveal regardless.
