Michigan State football is making a strong impression on three-star tight end Decker DeGraaf from California.
Three-star tight end Decker DeGraaf has just announced that he will be taking an official visit to Michigan State football beginning June 16.
DeGraaf is a talented tight end from Glendora, Calif., and is listed at 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds. He is ranked as the No. 663 player in the class as well as the No. 32 tight end according to the 247Sports Composite.
In the five games he played in last year, he registered 23 catches for 378 yards and five touchdowns. He was limited to five games last season due to transfer rules, but that is great production for playing in such a small amount of games.
Michigan State may also be trending in his recruitment as 247Sports has MSU as the only school listed as “warm” on his recruiting profile. That by no means is the end all be all for his recruitment, but it can show that Michigan State so far is doing well in his recruitment. Washington is another school to pay attention to in his recruitment as they are the only other school to schedule an official visit which takes place on June 23.
Decker was offered by Michigan State football on Feb. 28 and was quoted by Spartan Mag writer Jason Killop saying, “I have been trying to get up there since the offer. So I really want to get out there and meet everyone and get the feel of the school.”
This quote backs up why MSU might be listed as “warm” on his 247Sports profile and shows his interest is very high in the program.
This will be DeGraaf’s first visit to East Lansing according to 247Sports and Mel Tucker and Ted Gilmore will look to make a strong impression on him. Michigan State offensive coordinator Jay Johnson has made it no secret that the tight end is an important position in his offense and I believe DeGraaf would fit that role perfect.
June 23 is a light recruiting weekend for the MSU staff as DeGraaf is one of only three visitors currently scheduled to visit East Lansing that weekend.
Will MSU continue to trend in this recruitment? I expect Michigan State to push hard to earn his recruitment while on this visit which would be massive to get some momentum going in this class again.
