Xadavien Sims is announcing his commitment on Saturday, but Michigan State football will be getting an official visit from him on June 2.
High priority target in the 2024 class Xadavien Sims has just announced that he has scheduled an official visit to Michigan State football beginning June 2.
Sims is ranked the No. 194 player in the country and No. 23 defensive lineman in his class according to the 247Sports Composite. He is listed at 6-foot-3 and 275 pounds and has been one of the top priorities for Mel Tucker in the 2024 class.
Sims is from Durant, Okla., and is good friends and training partners with current MSU freshman Bai Jobe. He is also close friends with five-star 2024 recruit David Stone that MSU is in pursuit of. Having a close friend already in the program definitely helps Michigan State’s chances in this recruitment, but it appears the Spartans have some ground to make up.
The four-star is announcing his commitment on Saturday, May 20, with his five finalists being MSU, Oregon, TCU, Vanderbilt, and Oklahoma. All signs point to that decision trending towards Oregon as they have recently starting accumulating a lot of crystal balls on 247Sports. Even with his commitment coming tomorrow, this recruitment is far from being over as he is still setting up his official visits for the summer.
Even if Sims doesn’t pick MSU tomorrow, I still think we have a chance to flip him into our class before signing day. Michigan State was the early leader in this recruitment and had all of the 247Sports crystal ball predictions last year. Even with those predictions now in favor of Oregon, he obviously still has interest in the Michigan State football program because he is still taking the time to take another visit to East Lansing.
Sims also has official visits set with TCU on June 16 and Vanderbilt on June 23, showing once again that his recruitment is far from over.
June 2 is already a busy recruiting weekend for MSU, and adding a top-200 player in Sims to that list only makes it more exciting. Sims is the 11th player confirmed to be visiting MSU that weekend and the eighth four-star that weekend alone. Included in that list is current commit Jaylen Thompson who will do his best to convince everyone on the visit to join him at Michigan State.
Even with Sims likely committing to Oregon tomorrow, this recruitment is far from over and I still believe Michigan State has as good of a chance as anyone to win this recruitment come signing day.
