Aidan Chiles on list of transfer QBs with “stock up” this spring

First-year Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles saw his stock go up this spring, according to an On3 analyst.

Aidan Chiles has appeared in just a handful of games in his one year of college football. And yet he’s one of the hottest names in the sport.

In fact, Jesse Simonton of On3 posted a stock report of all the major transfer quarterbacks from spring ball and the Spartans’ new QB1 is on the short list of “stock up” players. He had a strong spring and his stock is on the rise.

According to Simonton, “The promising sophomore reportedly had a solid spring, though he was just ok in Michigan State’s final scrimmage (50% passing, one touchdown.”

You can’t judge too harshly on the Spring Showcase, as Simonton noted, as Chiles, by all accounts, had a really good spring with Michigan State and heads into the fall as the team’s QB1 after transferring in with minimal experience. He showed flashes of being elite with Oregon State as a backup for DJ Uiagalelei but now he’s taking the reins of a Power Four offense.

And after the spring he’s had, fans should feel comfortable with that.

It’s been years since Michigan State last had a promising young quarterback like Chiles earning national recognition. After a strong first year as starter back in 2017, Brian Lewerke garnered a ton of hype heading into 2018. Injuries really kept him from growing in East Lansing, but that was the last time there was this much hype surrounding a Spartan passer.

The sky is truly the limit for Chiles who possesses great size, speed, and a rocket for an arm. He has some solid backups who should push him to be even better which is what healthy quarterback rooms do. Seeing Tommy Schuster form a connection with Nick Marsh in the Spring Showcase should be all the motivation Aidan Chiles needs to be great.

The Chiles hype is real, folks.
