Draymond Green appeared on the NBA All-Star Game broadcast and spoke candidly about Michigan’s cheating scandal.
The Michigan State vs. Michigan rivalry is at an all-time high right now. Both fanbases have reasons to feel like they own the rivalry right now, with MSU sweeping Michigan in basketball and Michigan football winning the national championship. But you know the rivalry banter is at an all-time high when former players are getting involved. First we saw Hunter Dickinson and Jordan Hall go at it online. Now Draymond Green is getting involved after taking a shot at Michigan’s national title on live TV.
Michigan fans aren’t going to like this.
Draymond questions legitimacy of Michigan’s national title
This past weekend featured the NBA All-Star Game. Draymond was not a participant in the All-Star game, but he was commentating the game on the broadcast. All-Star Weekend is always a laid-back environment, where players and analysts spend lots of time joking around with each other. And Draymond took advantage of this opportunity by trolling the school he hates the most.
This obviously upset a lot of Michigan fans, with many claiming Green has no authority to speak on this. But I beg to differ. First of all, Draymond plays his sport at the highest level possible. I think anyone who plays their sport at the level Draymond does has the right to comment on the cheating allegations surrounding Michigan’s football program.
Also, Draymond owned Michigan during his collegiate career. He finished with a winning record against Michigan, so he has the right to talk about the Wolverines as much as he wants.
The best part of this comment from Green is the last part about Jim Harbaugh. It’s no secret that Harbaugh has flirted with the NFL for a while now. So why did he conveniently decide to leave Michigan the second all of these allegations came to light? That’s no coincidence, if you ask me.
All jokes aside, I think this banter is good for the rivalry. It’s a good thing when former players still care about their schools, and I think we all know Draymond Green still bleeds green and white.
