Michigan State basketball pushing hard for top-60 SF in 2025 class

Michigan State basketball coaches are in Virginia recruiting top-60 small forward Jordan Scott on Monday afternoon.

Coming off a huge road win against Maryland, Michigan State basketball keeps the momentum going. Although the team doesn’t play again until Friday, the coaching staff is still hitting the recruiting trail.

Spartan basketball assistant coach Doug Wojcik was down in Virginia on Monday to see 2025 four-star forward, Jordan Scott of South Lakes, Va.

Scott is the 12th-ranked small forward in the nation and holds offers from a number of elite schools. Washington, Florida State, and Maryland are all contenders for the highly-touted player from Virginia. He stands at 6-foot-7, 185 pounds and is being pursued hard by Maryland assistant Mike Jones.

The Michigan State coaching staff is looking to kick off the 2025 recruiting class with a bang. Scott would be the first member of the class and would be a nice get following a couple great years on the recruiting trail for Tom Izzo and Co. After signing the fifth-ranked 2023 class, MSU currently sits with the No. 15 recruiting class in 2024. If Michigan State can stack three elite recruiting classes in a row, either Izzo will have the talent he needs for a second title or whoever is the heir to the throne will kick things off with an elite team.

As of right now, there is no timeline for Scott’s commitment. It is assumed he will continue taking visits and assess the college basketball landscape prior to making a decision on where he will play his college ball.

Don’t expect anything soon, but this is a recruiting battle to keep an eye on for the foreseeable future.
