Alessio Milivojevic will be getting all the stops pulled out with Michigan State football the weekend before Early Signing Day.
On Dec. 10, Allen Trieu and Corey Robinson of 247Sports posted on X.com that Alessio Milivojevic, a 2024 quarterback out of Wheaton, Ill., would be taking an official with Michigan State football the following weekend.
A brief history of Alessio Milivojevic’s recruitment
Alessio Milvojevic was a multi-year starter for the St. Francis Spartans and helped lead them to the state semifinals this season. Despite this, along with impressive numbers (251-for-344, 3,415 yards, 40 touchdowns) and a sneaky mobility factor (275 yards, 9 touchdowns), Milivojevic was underrecruited. He held offers from a few Power Five programs in 2022, but Ball State had given the most attention to the Wheaton native and likely the most consistent chance of playing time.
He committed to Ball State in June, before his senior season. Despite the aforementioned breakout season, no other programs appeared to be calling. That was, until Dec. 7, when the Spartans made an offer to Milivojevic.
As mentioned in my article breaking down his offer, the Spartans have capitalized on overlooked Illinois quarterbacks in the past. Naperville’s Payton Thorne helped the Spartans win the Peach Bowl in 2021. Much like Thorne, Milivojevic was underrecruited, ranking outside the top 1,000 prospects on the 247Sports Composite. Unlike Thorne, Alessio can enter into a less crowded quarterback room.
The Spartans have moved fast to try to land A-Mil(l)i, holding a home visit and now inviting him to see the campus on Dec. 15, right before signing day. 247Sports did state that Milivojevic plans to sign during the early period, which is part of the reason for the Spartan blitz in recruiting. The Spartans will have one last chance to flip Alessio, and the quarterback has stated that he believes he slots well into Smith’s offense.
The outlook on the quarterback room
Michigan State football, again, has no scholarship quarterbacks as of Dec. 10. Katin Houser, Noah Kim, and Sam Leavitt all are in the portal. That does not mean the cupboard will be bare, however.
The Spartans hosted Oregon State transfer Aidan Chiles over Dec. 9-10, and look to land his commitment soon. Chiles will be entering his sophomore season and would be in his second season of Jonathan Smith’s system. Milivojevic likely slots in behind Chiles, giving him time to mature and learn the system behind the highly talented Californian.
For the second consecutive year, Michigan State will try to squeak a late commitment from a quarterback. Once again, the experts believe the Spartans will succeed. All of the recruiting experts have Milivojevic flipping his commitment to Michigan State. Time will tell, but this sprint to early signing day will have all of us refreshing our X feeds constantly. If Alessio Milivojevic chooses to come up to East Lansing, the Spartan video staff better choose Lil Wayne’s “A Milli” as his introduction song.
That is all I am asking for.
