It’s not all bad.

The final game of the Michigan State football regular season against Penn State has been moved to Ford Field.

If you are not a fan of the cold weather and still want to go to the last Michigan State football game of the regular season, here is your chance. It was announced earlier on Wednesday that Michigan State will be playing Penn State at Ford Field on Black Friday.

This is an unprecedented move by Michigan State but it could be one that plays in its favor. When you think of the total attendance at every last game for Michigan State, a lot of fans don’t necessarily show up even when the team is good. There are reasons for that but one of the biggest reasons is the cold weather.

Now, there might be some discussion about how most of the fans that do go to these games are from the East Lansing area but if you are a passionate fan of the team, will making the hour and a half drive really be that significant that you won’t attend the game? To me, the answer to that question is no.

Also, the question of what the weather will be like is no longer going to be a concern.

This is not the first time Michigan State has played at Ford Field but it is the first time right after the Lions’ Thanksgiving game. If you are a Michigan State fan, what a perfect start to your weekend with Lions on Thursday, catching Michigan State basketball vs. Arizona on TV on Thursday night, and then Michigan State football at the same field on Friday.

There will be questions on how tickets will work but overall, this is a smart move that might bring more fans to this game, not just because it is going to be inside but you will have people coming from the Detroit area going to the game as well.

This move not only affects the players and the fans but it also brings up the discussion of beer sales. There is currently a bill that is still waiting to be passed that would allow fans to drink alcohol at college games in the state of Michigan. This game could be the first time we see this if the bill doesn’t pass. With the game being at the Lions’ facility and they are able to sell beer there, this could be the first step in attending college games in the state with the opportunity to buy a beer. This is something that has been discussed and if this is part of why Michigan State made this decision; it might make fans quite excited as fans have been wanting this for a while.

This news is exciting for all involved. You get to watch a Michigan State game inside, you could also get the chance to buy a beer and enjoy it at the game and lastly, more people should show up because a lot of fans are in Detroit over Thanksgiving, and there are 100,000-plus alumni in the area.

Because of this, make sure to schedule your time around Thanksgiving so you can be in attendance at Ford Field when Michigan State plays Penn State.
